This Year's Model Updates:

The 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe gets two new engines and six-speed transmissions that deliver both better performance and improved fuel economy. There are minor exterior styling revisions, including new taillights and grille. Inside, Bluetooth hands-free cell phone connectivity, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and a USB audio input jack are now standard on all models. The side curtain airbags now incorporate a rollover sensor. Finally, the third-row seat option has been dropped.

Pros:
  • Attractive interior, top-notch crash test scores, lots of features at an agreeable price, great warranty.
Cons:
  • Ride quality on SE and Limited models may be too firm for some buyers.

  • Pleasantly Surprised - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

First purchase ever and the Santa Fe was not my first choice. However, after test driving and sitting in all areas of the vehicle, I fell in love with the comfort and ease of the car. Drives quietly, smoothly and has an awesome pick up for a 4 cyl. Gas mileage has been great. Body is sleek and classy. Two downfalls; some parts feel flimsy i.e. gas tank cover, moldings on doors below windows. Also, I have an unexplained muffled thumping sound from the cabin of the car.

  • Great Except For - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

Great vehicle-except A) no protective covering on rear bumper as in 2009 models, B) and takes a lot of effort in order to lock steering wheel (180 degree turn of steering wheel). Lastly, no daytime running lights, reason unknown.. All controls easy to see, reach and use. I do mostly city driving and have gotten about 20 mpg thus far.

  • Pleased so far - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

My new 2010 Santa Fe has about 4000 miles on it so far. Overall I am pleased with the car but there are some things i dont like about it. The ride is very rough. From the factory the tires had 36 lbs of pressure. Dropping the pressure to 30lbs helped a lot but the ride is still stiffer than that of a 2010 Rav 4 Limited. The V6 engine is very powerful but the gas pedal has excessive lag. Step on the gas and wait a 2 seconds before the engine RPM picks up. You will find many complaints online regarding the transmission but I havent experienced any problems yet (fingers crossed). Rav 4 would have been my first choice if it wasnt for that swing out rear door.

  • What a Joy - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

We bought this car a week ago,I must say that I have never loved any car this much. We have been a Hyundai family since we started to buy vehicles and it is very hard for us to go for other brands though this time I looked at other vehicles as well, I am glad that we stuck with Hyundai. It is been great

  • Some Regrets - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

Traded in a Toyota van which had great ride quality and am disappointed in sante fes ride. Very stiff ride which I did not discover upon test driving. Interior is noisy, could be the leather seats rubbing together and vibrating. A/c controls are more complicated than they need to be. Engine seems to have some hesitation upon acceleration. Black interior is more dark gray than black which I like better. Anxious to see how it handles in snow. Lots of features on this SUV for the money but not sure I will keep it for the long term due to ride quality and interior noise. Interior comfort is more important to me than all the bells and whistles that this car has. Not sure it was right car for me.

  • Great Value and Drive too - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

Purchased my silver blue pearl Santa Fe SE in June. My initial ride home over 100 miles was a delight, beautiful ride vehicle felt right in my hands. I have 2000 miles on it now and its still as advertised. My avg fuel mileage is 24.7 and there is a wonderful feeling knowing it has plenty of power with the V6. Mine has the premium package really enjoy the XM and all the other features. No complaints or issues with this vehicle.

  • 2010 Santa Fe Lemon- - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

After great reviews I took a chance on a Hyundai Santa Fe 2010. Ran great until about 7000 miles. Thats when I noticed oil on my garage floor. Had the problem (timing chain cover)"fixed". Four days later it is leaking worse than ever. I cant wait to hear what the problem is this time. Also, intermittent transmission issues. Hyundai customer service no help yet. I will never buy a Hyundai again. I wish I would have done better research when I bought this vehicle. Please do yourself a favor if you are reading this review trying to decide on a purchase...do not buy a Hyundai. I fell like I threw $22000 out of the window and Im sure it wont last 100K. I should have bought a gm. :-(

  • Tranmission - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe
    By -

I am into my 3rd transmission for a car that is 4 years old and 30,000 miles. Dealer cannot explain why my car keeps destroying the transmissions. But when engaging my car into gear there is a delay and then bangs into gear. I am totally disgusted and am getting rid of this car. I will never recommend this car to anyone.

  • One more thing! - 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe

Forgot to add. Gas mileage from the get-go has been close to 23 mpg in mixed driving. Works for me!
